INTERNSHIPS IN AMSTERDAM (MCD) AND UTRECHT (SDU) – SMALL ANIMAL DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
The Internships are one-year, non-degree programs in multidisciplinary small animal referral practices. We have a position available at Anicura Medisch Centrum voor Dieren Amsterdam and AniCura Specialistische Dierenkliniek Utrecht. Under the guidance of experienced board-certified specialists you will play a key part in providing the diagnostic service working under the supervision of experienced specialist radiologists. She/he will be trained in performing and interpreting a wide range of imaging modalities during regular business hours and out of hours.
AniCura Medisch Centrum voor Dieren (MCD) is a specialized and emergency care clinic for referral clients in the areas of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology and radiology. The clinic currently has a team of 2 radiologists (Dip ECVDI), two ECVDI residents and four dedicated veterinary assistants. The clinic is equipped with radiography, ultrasonography, a CT scan and a MRI. The clinic works closely together with Anicura Specialistische Dierenkliniek Utrecht where we have an opening for an intern as well:
AniCura Specialistische Dierenkliniek Utrecht (SDU) is a specialized clinic for referral clients in the areas of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology and radiology. The clinic currently has 3 radiologists (Dip ECVDI) working part-time on different days. The clinic is equipped with radiography, ultrasonography and a 124-slice CT.
In both clinics the internship is a one-year clinical position. The goal is to give the intern the opportunity to gain deeper knowledge and get a broad-based experience within the field of small animal Diagnostic Imaging. He/she will work together with a group of specialized colleagues, and get support and instruction in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging examinations. At MCD in Amsterdam you will mainly work with radiography, ultrasound, CT and MRI with the opportunity to learn about advanced techniques through participation in weekly journal clubs and known case conferences. This also applies at SDU in Utrecht, except for working with MRI. But you will be able to learn about that through the journal clubs and case conferences.
The candidate performs and reports diagnostic imaging studies, including radiography, ultrasound, CT (and MRI) under guidance and direction of a senior radiologist in small animals and ensures the efficient running of the Imaging facilities in the clinic, producing high quality diagnostic images for clinical or research purposes for all clinicians.
The applicant is expected to take an active part in the general work in the diagnostic imaging the clinic, participate in the education and supervision of the other residents and participate and help with research projects.
A Veterinary degree that is recognized in the Netherlands and a minimum of one year working experience in a small animal veterinary practice. Experience within the area of diagnostic imaging is a pre.

Someone who realizes the importance of maintaining good relations with colleagues, referring veterinarians and customers and has the skills to do this in a sincere and trusting manner. The successful candidate is expected to be interested in clinical work, education and research.
We work in both English and Dutch and so it is important that you can express yourself well in spoken and written English and Dutch.

Form of employment: The position is for one year. Extension of the employment contract as a veterinarian or in the form of a residency program is a possibility, depending on proven capabilities and available residency places.
Salary and other benefits: Salary level based on “Dierenarts A scale”
