Crossing boundaries: New perspectives on animal diseases
Epidemiology is often shaped within boundaries, between species, production systems, countries, and perspectives, but how fixed are these divisions in reality? By crossing these boundaries, the VEEC symposium explores both the differences and commonalities, using two infectious diseases as a lens. In doing so, it challenges us to reconsider how we compare, interpret, and understand diseases across systems.
The 2026 VEEC symposium will take place at Utrecht University. In the morning keynote speakers will present their perspectives of crossing boundaries in epidemiology. In the afternoon, a selection of speakers of the VEEC supporting organisations (WUR, UU, Royal GD, RIVM and the industry) will present. Selection will be done by the organisations themselves; no abstracts need to be submitted.
Online registration will start in September and will be announced. Contact the VEEC board (bestuur.veec@gmail.com) if you are interested in presenting your work at the symposium.
